FAQs
Do people swim in the lake that is on the property? Is it a public lake?
The lake is a public reservoir, which allows non-motorized boats, fishing, and paddle boarding, but we do not recommend swimming, as the water is very cold, even in the summer. You can read more information about the reservoir here.
Do you have a canoe or other watercraft available for guests at the house?
We do not have those available for guests.
If we bring our own ATVs, are we allowed to ride on the property, or are there trails?
The property is not conducive for ATVs, as it is on the bottom part of a mountain and there are no trails. Additionally, Skaguay Reservoir does not allow them either.
Is there any kind of outdoor grill?
Colorado is very dry and often has wildfire concerns. We do not provide a grill at the house, but there are fire pits down by the lake to use. However, please do note that this is only if Teller County is not under fire restrictions. Please check before you use them.
Would early check-in be a possibility?
We are more than happy to accommodate early check-ins when possible. There are times that we have a guest checking out the morning that you are arriving. In this particular case, early check-in will not be possible due to the amount of time it takes to clean our home properly and sanitize it for your safety.
Can we get by with our 2WD in the mountains?
During the late spring, summer, and early fall (unless it has snowed prematurely), a 2WD is just fine. However, during winter, we’ve now made it a requirement for 4WD (or AWD) for your safety.
Our driveway, while a typical mountain driveway, is steep, and if you’re not from a mountainous region or used to navigating snowy conditions, you can easily get stuck going up with all the snow.
Do you have any toddler supplies, such as high chairs?
Unfortunately, we do not.
What kind of items is the kitchen stocked with, and what do we need to bring?
We have a complete kitchen, stocked with basic spices and herbs, as well as a coffee maker, trash bags, Saran Wrap, and more. You’ll just want to bring your own food and beverages.
What is the elevation of the house(s)?
We are at 9,300’ elevation! As such, we do recommend that you drink a ton of water when you get to either house, and allow your body to get acclimated for a day or so before you undertake any strenuous hiking or activities.
